It's necessary to download the map data for the desired regions or countries and it's recommended to do this via a broadband internet connection before riding.
The navigation will still function with the map data without access to a mobile network as long as GPS and Bluetooth are enabled on the smartphone. Mobile data is only required to use additional functions, for instance traffic information.
