You can check whether the airbag vest is compatible with motorcycle or protective clothing using the following two dimensions and a simple calculation:
A: Width of the jacket from armpit to armpit.
B: Chest circumference including the gear worn when using the airbag vest, but the measurement is made without the airbag vest
M = 2 × A − B
Assessment: If M is less than 13, the gear is not compatible. If M is greater than or equal to 13, the gear is compatible.
The airbag vest may be compatible with the following types of motorcycling protective clothing:
- Motorcycle jackets (the jacket’s back protector must then be removed)
- One-piece leather suits (must be checked on a case-by-case basis)
- Motorcycle jackets and trousers with a connecting zip
- Motorcycle clothing with a zip fastener that allows the inner lining to be removed.
Compatibility depends in part on the specific garment model, the material and the space available for the airbag to deploy.
